When was the
school established?
During the 2003-04 school year
we are celebrating 150 years having been
established in 1853.
Who
attends Salem Lutheran School?
Students from eight school
districts attend Salem. About 38% of the student
body is Lutheran, 62% belong to non-Lutheran
congregations. Currently, there are 125 children
in early childhood, birth through age
pre-kindergarten, and 300 students in grades
kindergarten through eight.
Will you
have a high school some day?
We already do! Concordia Lutheran
High School is our association high school. About
95% of our eighth graders transfer there after
graduating from eighth grade.

How will you accomplish your
vision?
Through developing authentic
relationships with God and others, teaching and
implementing biblical stewardship principles and
by using a Christ-centered curriculum.
Is the school accredited?
Yes, through the Texas Education
Agency, by TEPSAC (Texas Private School
Accreditation Commission), in accordance with
Texas Administrative Code Title 19, Part 11,
Chapter 97, Non-Public Schools.
Do you use a measure of
standardized testing?
ITBS (Iowa Test of Basic Skills) is
taken annually by students in grades three through
eight. Over the past five years, the average
school percentile is 92%. When compared to all
schools who take the test nationally, Salem
Lutheran School scored better than 91% of them. 8%
of the schools scored higher.
Are the teachers
professionally trained?
All of our classroom teachers have
bachelor’s degrees. 20% have advanced degrees.
Many teachers have multi-state certification.
Are the teachers experienced?
Our least experienced teacher has
four years of experience and our senior staffer
has over thirty years of experience. Combined, we
have over 400 years of experience! In addition,
our faculty is 39% male.
How is Salem different from
other Christian schools?
Salem School is owned and operated
by Salem Lutheran Church and is an outreach
ministry.
The school is
governed by the School Commission, using Policy
Based Governance. Members are elected by the Salem
Congregational Assembly and are accountable to the
Salem Elders and Salem Directors. |
