I hope that your summer is full of fun! We are gearing up for our
157th academic year at Salem Lutheran School. Our theme will include
those cute little m and m’s again- only this time the scripture focus
is on verses 9 and 10 of 1 Thessalonians: “…loving like Jesus…more
and more.” Included are many different pieces of information. Please
read them carefully.
We welcome Mrs. Kristin Sanderson as our choral music teacher. She
comes to us with many years of professional experience, and voice
training is her expertise. We also welcome Mrs. Laura (Schlichting)
Honeck as a sixth grade home room teacher, teaching religion,
social studies, some language arts and coaching athletics. Mrs. Honeck
is a Salem School alumnus and comes “home” from teaching two years at
Trinity Lutheran School in Delray Beach, Florida. We also welcome
Mrs. Jill Boldt as a third teacher in the second grade on a part time
basis. Mrs. Boldt will join Mrs. Pieper and Mrs. David in their
classrooms working with small groups of students in various areas.
Mrs. Boldt is an experienced teacher having most recently worked in
Klein ISD and with Sylvan Learning Center both as a therapist and an
administrator. This coming year we will have three sections of first
grade and fifth grade. Our enrollment continues to be steady with a
few seats still available. We encourage you to be “raving fans” of
Salem Lutheran School and tell your friends and neighbors about how
much we love our kids!
The School Supply List has been posted on the school website.
www.salemlutheran.com Please read it carefully as some things
have changed significantly, especially for the upper grades.

meeting is for going over new and/or different
policies and procedures. We will meet as a whole
group and then go to the individual classrooms for
presentations by the faculty. The Family Handbook can be accessed
by going to the website
www.salemlutheran.com.
Tuesday, August 17 “Tell the Teacher More
Day “ by appointment only
Come to the meeting with your child’s homeroom teacher and have the
form from August 12 completed. Our research tells us that the more
frequently parents and teachers communicate about academic progress
and behavior issues, the more content everyone is! So, it’s your day
to do the talking! We do the listening- we want to know what makes
your child tick! Teachers will not be discussing procedures.
Wednesday, August 18 First Day of School
Half Day – out
at noon
This is the day students go through the classroom procedures, meet
their classmates, see the campus, etc., Getting the jitters out and
leaving on a high note are key! No after school care this day.
Thursday, August 19 Full Day of
School After School
Care Available
Hot lunch will be
available
